As per an announcement by the president Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, JEE and other entrance exams for IIT would be held in Kathmandu as well.

Mr Mukherjee, who is on a 3 day trip to Nepal has extended this gesture as a part of an already undergoing initiative of helping Nepal with its Human Resource Development. Also, meritorious Nepalese students pursuing courses and research in Hydel power and water conservation would be given scholarships by the Indian government.

This will be implemented in the forthcoming the JEE 2017 exam wherein Nepalese learners would be given a chance to compete for the IITs.

With the move, the competition for IIT-JEE could get tougher. The actual increase in competition and cutoffs cannot be speculated as of now.
