BITSAT as scheduled, began on 16th May 2018 and will be held until 31st May 2018, for admission to its engineering courses offered at all the three campuses – Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. BITSAT is conducted in online mode in two time slots – 9 to 12 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. The candidates can book their slots and centers as per convenience.
Here is a brief of how BITSAT 2018 has been so far:
Date: 17 May 2018
Mathematics : Concepts like Probability, Quadratic Equations and Simple Integration were asked. About 60% of the questions were pretty straightforward, the rest were a little challenging which required the application of concepts.
Physics: Physics was moderately difficult. On an average, 50-55 minutes were required to complete the section. Some of the topics asked were: Gravitation, Ray Optics, Rotational Motion and Fluids.
Chemistry: Study of NCERT would have helped here, but there were tougher questions in this section from organic and inorganic chemistry in particular. Students with a strong grip on basics would have aced this section.

Mathematics: Application of Derivatives was the most asked topic apart from other topics like Circles,Statistics, Complex Numbers and Probability. Maths section was relatively easy, wherein most of the questions were based on simple formulae.
Physics: Physics section was a little difficult and time-consuming. A lot of calculation based questions were asked. Many questions were asked from Electricity and Magnetism. Heat and Thermodynamics, Optics and Modern Physics were the other frequently asked topics.
Chemistry: This section was moderately difficult. Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry were slightly easy. Physical Chemistry, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry were some of the frequently asked topics in the exam. Tougher questions were from Organic Chemistry.
Here are a few things that students should keep in mind before taking BITSAT:
- Begin with attempting the section that is most comfortable to you. Reserve the toughest one for last.
- Do not spend more than a minute per question. Leave any question that looks ambiguous and come back to it, after you are done attempting all the known ones.
- At any time, if you lose control over time, do not panic and attempt two sections simultaneously. Take a minute to figure out a sensible way of maximizing your attempt in the available time.
